and where do you think you came from?

Acis will search for your ancestors, using computer records.

Records available online include:
    births, marriages and deaths in England and Wales, from 1837 onwards       
    censuses (made every ten years) from 1841 to 1911
    war records (first and second world wars).

Information required (as far as possible):
    full names of all family members to be researched
    dates of events - births marriages and deaths
    places of events - full addresses or towns or counties
    places of homes in census years.
   
Procedure (after first free hour)
    A contract is signed by the client and sent to Acis (copy available by request).
    A £20 deposit is required. Cheques (payable to Acis) will not be cashed until work starts.
    Reports back will be made by email or telephone.
    Transcript and certificate fees will not be incurred without reference back.
    After the deposit has been used, reference back will be made before proceeding.
    A further deposit will then be required.

Charges (after initial free hour):
    searching costs £20 an hour (some clients may wish to do their own research, in which case help can be              
        provided at the same rate)
    no charge is made for transcripts (extracts from registers) except for:
        the 1911 census, which cost £3 each as it was only recently opened
        war records, which cost £1 each
    certificates of birth, marriage and death cost £7 each.

Family trees
    If these are required, simple ones can be prepared, using existing websites.
    Computer software can be purchased for better quality family trees - these cost from £20.
    Clients may find it interesting to prepare their own family tree, in which case help an be provided at £20 an hour.

Clients should note that searches can sometimes be fruitless,  because the published records are inaccurate.
